The Foundation provides a way to link one's
resources with the church and the church ministry of one's choice. It does
so by assisting with gift arrangements which provide life income through
annuities or charitable trusts. It does so by providing counsel with
giving through wills, trusts, insurance and a whole range of options for the
giving of resources and assets. It does so by providing assistance to
congregations desiring to develop Mission Endowment Funds.
Community Family Life Services is a Christian, non profit
agency serving low income and homeless individuals in Washington, D.C.
Programs include food/clothing distribution, rent and utility assistance, job
placemen/transportation,
children's tutoring, summer camp, transitional housing
and counseling services.
The Foundation, on a non-profit basis, develops and manages
affordable housing for the low and very low income elderly and elderly
handicapped throughout Metropolitan Washington, D.C. Because of the
Foundation, residents live with dignity and mature gracefully in an atmosphere
of Christian caring, compassion and concern regardless of the color of their
skin or national origin. 
LSS/NCA is a multi-service, Metropolitan D.C. region wide agency of the ELCA
and the LCMS which extends ministry into specialized areas of need including
adoptions, birth parent counseling, foster care, refugee and immigrants, the
seriously mentally ill, those in financial crisis and AIDS ministry.
LSS/NCA works in collaboration with both the public and private sectors to build
a healthier community.

The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, a school of the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America, prepares pastors and other leaders for the
church. The seminary extends its program through the Lutheran House of
Studies on Monroe Street in Washington, D.C. As a member of the Washington
Theological Consortium our students may also take courses at seven other theological
schools in the District of Columbia
area.
The synod provides pastoral care for its rostered ministers
and 77 congregations of the ELCA, sharing resources with one another to build
shared ministries. The synod's Mission Endowment Fund is a major player in
meeting the challenge of planting and assisting new congregations in the new and
changing
neighborhoods of one of the fastest growing areas in the United
States. Gifts to the MEF will be placed in an endowment from which grants
will be made to assist in the purchase of sites and building of first units.
N Street Village empowers homeless and low-income women to claim their
highest quality of life by offering a broad spectrum of services and
advocacy in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. The Village also
provides affordable rental housing for low and moderate-income individuals
and families. |
The National Lutheran Home is a comprehensive and continuing
care facility for the elderly. The care
of the majority of the
nursing home residences is subsidized. The home's main care facility and
its associated independent living village is located on a 27.5 acre campus in
Rockville, MD.
Roanoke College
Roanoke College, the country’s second oldest
Lutheran-related college, is an independent, coeducational, four-year liberal
arts college. Its 1,900 students represent Virginia, 40 states across the U.S.
and 26 foreign countries. It offers 34 majors with bachelor’s degrees in arts,
science and business, as well as pre-professional majors in law, medicine,
dentistry, engineering and ministry.
